featured plants this week…

well, i hope after tonight the worst of the weather will be behind us. it is still too early for frost-intolerant plants to go in the ground, but we have lots of goodies that can handle some cold! you may need to cover if there’s another frost, but they like the cool weather.
veggies: artichokes and cardoons
all the brassicas (broccoli, cauliflower – we have some cool ones!, brussels sprouts, kales)
fennel for bulbs
greens and lettuces
onions,leeks, and shallots
herbs: all the hardy perennials – all of the herbs marked with an S on the list(just not lemongrass, stevia or
spilanthes yet)
cilantro
dill
epazote
fennel for seed
parsley
flowers: alyssum
bachelor’s buttons
calendula
cleome
larkspur
lobelia
nicotiana
painted tongue (lovely stained-glass marked flowers!)
schizanthus (flowers look like delicate orchids)
snapdragons
Thunbergia can go in pots
and all the perennial flowers!
