about peacetree

The best local food comes from your own garden!

At peacetree you’ll find a diverse selection of heirloom, open-pollinated and out-of -the-ordinary vegetable, herb and flower seedlings….

The focus of peacetree is on sustainability and diversity, offering a wide selection of seedlings for home gardeners. All plants are greenhouse grown on a human scale using soil, seeds, and soil amendments that are appropriate for good, clean agriculture, and conform to organic standards. I am committed to supporting a sustainable agricultural system – one where our input augments and benefits the continuance of natural cycles and where we are locally connected to the sources of our food.

peacetree has over 300 varieties of plants (with a slight bias toward Italian flavors!)….over 50 varieties of tomatoes alone, plus peppers, eggplants, cole crops, onions, leeks, cardoons, salad and braising greens, squash, culinary and medicinal herbs and native and cultivated flowers. In order to grow so many different types, I encourage people to mix up 6-packs with several different varieties, for diversity in your garden and excitement for your taste buds!

what is peacetree?

peacetree is located in the Hilltowns near the historic Schoharie Valley. The name is derived from the Iroquois tree of peace (an Eastern White Pine), where the five nations buried their weapons and joined together to form the Iroquois Confederacy.
